A password reset is required when you cannot log in because you have forgotten or lost your existing password. To protect your account from unauthorized takeovers, services require identity verification using an out-of-band communication channel (such as a registered recovery email, SMS code, or authenticator prompt) before granting access to create a replacement password.
Navigate to the login screen of the service or platform (e.g., Google, Microsoft, social media, or banking portal).
Enter your username, registered email address, or phone number in the identification field.
Click or tap the Forgot password? (or Can't access your account?) link located directly beneath or next to the password input field.
Verification: The page navigates away from the credential entry screen and displays an account recovery prompt asking where to deliver your verification token.

Select your preferred verification channel:
Email: The system sends an email containing a secure, time-limited reset link.
SMS / Phone: The system sends a one-time passcode (OTP) consisting of 6 digits to your registered mobile number.
Authenticator / Device Prompt: A verification alert appears on an existing authorized mobile device.
Retrieve the link or security code immediately (most reset tokens expire within 10 to 15 minutes). If checking email, inspect the Spam or Junk folder if the message does not appear in your inbox within 2 minutes.
Enter the numeric code into the verification box, or click the Reset password link in the recovery email.
Verification: The service validates the security token and routes you directly to a secure page titled Create New Password.
Type your new password into the New password input box.
Re-type the exact same password in the Confirm new password field.
Ensure your password fulfills all complexity rules displayed below the field (e.g., minimum 8–12 characters, uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special symbols).
Check the box labeled Log out of all other devices / sessions if you suspect unauthorized access.
Click Save, Submit, or Reset Password.
Verification: A confirmation message stating "Password reset successfully" appears, and you are redirected to log in with the new credentials.
