Before installing any software, connect your printer to power and establish the communication line to your computer.
USB Connection: Plug the USB Type-B cable into the printer and the standard USB connector into an active USB port on your PC or laptop.
Wireless / Network Connection: Use the printer’s built-in control panel to join your local Wi-Fi network. Ensure your computer is connected to the exact same Wi-Fi band (SSID).
Verification: Ensure the printer power indicator light is solid green or white, indicating it is powered and out of standby mode.
Always obtain drivers directly from the manufacturer’s support portal (such as HP, Canon, Epson, or Brother) rather than third-party download aggregators.
Locate your exact model number, printed on the front or barcode sticker on the back of the device.
Navigate to the manufacturer's Support & Drivers page, enter your model name, and verify that the detected operating system matches your PC (e.g., Windows 11 64-bit or macOS Sonoma).
Select the Full Feature Software and Driver package rather than a basic print-only driver if you need scanning and maintenance utilities.
Verification: Check your Downloads folder to confirm the .exe (Windows) or .dmg / .pkg (macOS) file has completed downloading without corruption.
Close running applications, right-click the downloaded setup file, and select Run as administrator (on Windows) or double-click to mount the disk image (on macOS).
Accept the software license agreement and select your connection type (Wireless or USB) when prompted by the wizard.
If connecting over Wi-Fi, the setup assistant will scan your network and display your printer’s IP address. Select it and click Next.
Wait for the file extraction and registry updates to complete.
Verification: The installer displays an "Installation Complete" or "Setup Successful" confirmation dialog.
Confirm that the operating system recognizes the driver as active and set to handle print queues.
Windows: Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners. Click your printer, select Printer properties, and click Print test page.
macOS: Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer, click Options & Supplies, and run a test print.
Verification: A physical test sheet should exit the printer tray displaying the driver name, port configuration, and alignment patterns.
